On March 26, the Guo Yun Hai—China’s first domestically built 80,000 DWT multi-purpose grain carrier, invested in and developed by COSCO SHIPPING Development—was successfully named and delivered at COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Dalian). This milestone marks the entry of major industry-finance integrated projects into the company’s fleet, representing a significant step forward in optimizing fleet structure toward innovation and green development. It also demonstrates a new achievement in the coordinated development of the integrated “build, lease, operate, and finance” industrial chain.
Since 2024, COSCO SHIPPING Development has continued to strengthen its presence across the shipping value chain, actively exploring opportunities in specialized market segments and delivering tailored solutions to meet customer needs. The company has advanced industry-finance integration projects for more than 80 vessels, steadily building a diversified and multi-dimensional ship asset platform. These vessels are scheduled for delivery and lease between 2026 and 2029.
The Guo Yun Hai is a flagship multi-purpose grain carrier jointly developed by COSCO SHIPPING Development and COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Dalian), designed to support the high-quality development of the shipping industry while leveraging the core strengths of industry-finance integration. As the first domestically built vessel of its kind, it meets the growing demand for specialized, large-scale grain transportation, offering key advantages including high cargo versatility, cost efficiency, and environmental performance.
The vessel measures 229.95 meters in length, 32.26 meters in beam, and 21 meters in depth. Its box-shaped cargo hold design accommodates a wide range of cargo types, demonstrating exceptional flexibility. In terms of environmental performance, the vessel features a methanol-ready design, with all key indicators reaching internationally advanced standards—embedding strong green credentials into its operation.
The ship’s bridge is equipped with a custom-designed nameplate engraved with core vessel information, including its name, type, and deadweight tonnage, along with a QR code that provides detailed digital information when scanned. This digital nameplate represents an innovative application within the company’s “Technology+” development framework, incorporating intelligent and digital features into the vessel.
