Recently, the Yangtze finless porpoise,
endearingly dubbed the "smiling angel," was once again seen leaping out
of the river. Its lively movements drew
widespread attention and ignited a flurry of online discussions. These delightful creatures were
spotted in the waters adjacent to the Shanghai Dong Fang International
Container Terminal (Qidong), which is owned by COSCO SHIPPING Development. Let's first delve into a closer
examination of the Yangtze finless porpoise. Known
as the "smiling angels," they are classified as a first-class
protected species in China and are critically endangered on a global scale.
Often hailed as the "living fossils" of the Yangtze River ecosystem
and the "aquatic giant pandas," they are highly sensitive to water
quality. Their consistent presence stands as a crucial indicator of a
thriving aquatic ecosystem.
Come and see the angels playing
in the water! This year marks the third
consecutive one that finless porpoises have been
seen playing merrily in the waters close to Shanghai Dong Fang International
Container Terminal (Qidong) Their frequent visits are vivid proof of the increasing
accomplishments in Yangtze River conservation endeavors, and strongly mirror CIMC Qidong
Container Factory's adherence to green manufacturing philosophies and its proactive assumption of
environmental protection duties. As a provincial-level green
factory, Qidong Container Factory has
consistently integrated the concept of green container manufacturing into
every step of the production process. Nestled along the riverbank, this factory stands as a
testament to the company's commitment to ecological protection, with
"green footprints" evident everywhere. Material end: Collaborating
with suppliers to develop new eco-friendly materials. The company opted for
graphene-enriched zinc primer, bamboo-wood composite flooring,
and corner fittings made from
recycled scrap steel, reducing carbon emissions right
from the raw material stage of the container's lifecycle. Production front: promoting
intelligent and green equipment upgrades. Since the beginning of the
year, the company has completed over 30 intelligent manufacturing
transformation projects, replaced more than 300 outdated
pieces of equipment, upgraded over 400 energy-saving
welding machines, air compressors, and high-efficiency motors, and enhanced 5 sets of RTO
(Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer) industrial exhaust treatment systems. Energy sector: actively
increasing the proportion of photovoltaic power generation. All six container factories
have implemented distributed photovoltaic power generation projects, with a cumulative installed
capacity exceeding 22 MW. They are also expanding the
construction of energy storage power stations and focusing on raising the
proportion of green electricity procurement. Not only Qidong Container
Factory, but all our container plants
have earned widespread recognition from all sectors of
society through these solid actions. Six "Provincial Green Factories" Four "National Green
Factories" One "National Exemplary
Smart Factory" Four "Advanced-Level Smart
Factories" We've established the world's
first Container Carbon Footprint and Environmental Product Declaration
Platform Our green footprint keeps on
expanding... Let's once again be soothed by
the cheerful splashes of these little angels. Their every leap is the most "adorable"
affirmation of the environmental conservation endeavors in the Yangtze River
basin. Our dedication to constructing
a green ecosystem will also yield even more inspiring
accomplishments in the days ahead. |
