On March 20, at the "Green and
Sustainable Development of Container Production" forum in the Strategic
Theatre of the 2025 Multimodal Transport Asia Expo, Mr. Cui Haikuo, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Universal Logistics
Technology Co., Ltd., delivered
a special speech titled "Pioneering the Carbon Path: Empowering
High-Quality Development with Green Manufacturing."
As one of the leading container
manufacturers, Shanghai Universal actively responds to the International
Maritime Organization's (IMO) goal of achieving net-zero emissions in the
global shipping industry by 2050. By implementing a range of measures,
including leading with a green and low-carbon strategy, establishing a sound
management system, and innovating in green manufacturing practices, the company
is committed to promoting harmonious coexistence between business development
and the ecological environment.
To this end, Shanghai Universal has
released a "Dual-Carbon Roadmap" to guide the company's overall green
and low-carbon strategy and has planned five major carbon-reduction pathways:
exploring green processes, accelerating the substitution of green energy,
building a green supply chain, strengthening and expanding the green product
portfolio, and enhancing the level of resource recycling.
In recent years, Shanghai Universal has
focused on the two major tracks of digital intelligence and green low-carbon
development, actively deploying the research and development of green products
and entering the energy storage container power supply business. Currently, the
marine air-cooled energy storage containers developed by Shanghai Universal
have been successfully tested and operated on two 700 TEU battery-powered
container ships for 37 voyages. Meanwhile, the company has also
strengthened its land-based energy storage container products, with a
year-on-year increase of 332.1% in production in 2024, further expanding
its customer base. Additionally, the company has established the world's
first Container Carbon Footprint and Environmental Product Declaration
(CFP&EPD) platform, jointly formulating rules through a low-carbon
alliance to explore a green and sustainable development path for the industry
chain. These initiatives have not only enhanced the company's market
competitiveness but also promoted the healthy and sustainable development of
the industry.
It is worth noting that while Shanghai
Universal is committed to technological innovation, it also places great
emphasis on fulfilling its social responsibilities. By donating modular
container houses for canteens, the company has improved the dining environment
for teachers and students at the First Primary School of Lajiu Township,
Luolong County, Tibet.
As green and low-carbon projects continue to
advance, Shanghai Universal will persist in its pioneering exploration and
innovative corporate management mechanisms. It is dedicated to building a more
robust green ecological barrier for the container manufacturing industry and
creating a harmonious supply chain management system that promotes coexistence.
The company will continue to contribute to the global shipping industry's goal
of achieving net-zero emissions.
