June
5–7 The 3rd Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Technology,
Products and Achievements Expo (abbreviated
as “Shanghai Carbon Expo”) was
held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre
China
COSCO SHIPPING, together with its core subsidiaries, including
COSCO SHIPPING Lines, COSCO SHIPPING Energy, COSCO SHIPPING Development,
COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, and COSCO SHIPPING (Tianjin), formed
a strong exhibition lineup, showcasing cutting-edge practices in energy
transformation and low-carbon transportation. As
a pioneer in the China COSCO SHIPPING's green transformation, Shanghai
Universal Logistics Equipment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING
Development, made
a remarkable debut at the exhibition under the theme of "Anchoring
Green and Low-Carbon Development, Setting a New Benchmark for Logistics
Equipment", comprehensively presenting the Company's innovative
achievements in the field of green and low-carbon initiatives.
So, where
exactly is the "green" in our "green container
manufacturing"? It starts at the source In
collaboration with our suppliers, the company has successfully developed new
eco-friendly materials. These
include innovative applications such as corner castings made from recycled
steel, bamboo-wood composite flooring, water-based paint coatings, and
reusable logistics equipment. By
focusing on reducing carbon emissions from the very beginning of the
container's life cycle—right at the raw material stage—we are embedding
sustainability into every step of our production process. Green Initiatives in Operations The
company has implemented a series of measures, including upgrading
energy-efficient equipment and introducing smart energy management systems. In 2024, these efforts resulted in
electricity savings of 3.32 million kWh, equivalent
to a reduction of approximately 1,893 tons of CO₂ emissions. Additionally, the company completed over 30
production process optimization and upgrade projects, achieving a significant
13% reduction in energy consumption per TEU. Green Initiatives in Energy The
company has been actively promoting photovoltaic power generation. To
date, the cumulative installed PV capacity has reached 21.82 MW. In
2024, the company utilized 28.43 million kWh of clean energy, equivalent
to reducing approximately 16,908 tons of CO₂ emissions. Green In Our Products The
company is committed to expanding its portfolio of green container solutions. Energy
storage containers efficiently store electricity, addressing
the intermittency challenges of solar, wind, and other renewable energy
sources, thereby enabling more stable utilization of clean energy. In
2024, the company's energy storage container deliveries increased by 123.17%
year-on-year. With
exceptional quality, the company continues to set the benchmark for industry
service excellence. We aspire to do far more than this. With a strong commitment to green development, we are dedicated to building a carbon reduction ecosystem.
As a low-carbon alliance, we have established the world's first container carbon footprint
and environmental product declaration platform (CFP&EPD Platform). Committed to working hand in hand with industry peers, we are jointly exploring a
green and sustainable development path across the entire supply chain, driving a comprehensive green transformation. More stories to come—stay tuned for tomorrow's sharing. |
